The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Wednesday that Kent State's Ines Delpech is a 2016 Longstreth/NFHCA Third Team All-American.
Delpech is the 11th Golden Flash in history to earn All-America recognition and the first non-senior since 2009. She is one of just 48 students across the nation to earn the highest athletic honor.
The junior made the move from midfield to defense this past season and helped lead Kent State to a 14-7 record, including a 6-0 conference season and a MAC Tournament championship that led Kent State to NCAA postseason play. In three years as a Golden Flash, Delpech has been an integral part of three regular season and three MAC tournament titles. She finished the 2016 campaign with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. She led the team with 74 shots and had the only defensive save for the Flashes this season.
The accolade is the highest honor for the Tandil, Argentina, native who has racked up numerous awards in her career. She is a two-time First Team All-Region, three-time First Team All-MAC and three-time MAC All-Tournament team recipient. Delpech also excels in the classroom. She boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average that has handed her Academic All-MAC, NFHCA National Academic Squad and NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction honors throughout her career.
