Regular Season Finale at Akron Selected for ESPN2 Broadcast

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference's premier hardwood rivalry will once again be on the national stage, as Kent State's regular season finale at Akron on Friday, March 4 has been selected for broadcast on ESPN2, the conference office announced Thursday morning. The game will begin at 7 p.m. at James A. Rhodes Arena and will also be available on ESPN3, WatchESPN.com and the WatchESPN app on mobile devices.
This will mark the 32nd consecutive time the Golden Flashes and Zips will be televised, which is the longest streak in the conference. Separated by a mere 14 miles, Kent State and Akron have met 143 times on the hardwood with the Golden Flashes holding a 72-71 advantage in the all-time series. The first matchup of the season on Friday, February 19 at the M.A.C. Center was previously chosen to be televised on ESPNU at 6 p.m.
The game will be the fifth nationally-televised contest for the Golden Flashes, who took on Penn State in the consolation game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic on FS1 on December 23, hosted Buffalo for a CBS Sports Network broadcast on January 8 and traveled to Ohio for an ESPNU broadcast on January 29.
Kent State is off to a 16-8Â start to the 100th season in program history and tied for second-place in the conference standings at 7-4. The Flashes will look for a season sweep of Eastern Michigan when they travel to Ypsilanti for a 12 p.m. tip on Saturday.
