Gymnastics Travels to Ball State Sunday for Think Pink Quad

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team travels to Muncie, Ind. Sunday, Feb. 14 to compete in Ball State's Think Pink quad-meet with Kentucky and Lindenwood. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. inside Irving Gymnasium.
Kent State
The Golden Flashes (3-2, 2-0 MAC) are coming off an impressive performance against George Washington and Northern Illinois, in which they posted season-high scores in all four events leading them to an all-around score of 196.050.
Sophomores Rachel Stypinski and Ali Marrero earned MAC Gymnast and Specialist of the Week, respectively, for their efforts. Stypinski took first on floor and tied for first on both beam and bars, sharing the top with Marrero on bars. Marrero also tied for fourth on beam with a 9.825.
Junior Jordan Hardison posted season-highs on floor and vault with scores of 9.9 and 9.725, respectively. Junior Skyelee Lamano turned in a 9.825 on floor and bars and also scored a season-high 9.775 on vault. On bars Dara Williams and Brooke Timko scored season-highs. Willams recorded a 9.825 while Timko posted a 9.8. Timko also scored a 9.85 on beam to take third place.
Ball State
The Cardinals (3-5, 0-3 MAC) are coming off 194.800-194.675 loss to Western Michigan. Ball State posted team scores of 48.575 (vault), 48.875 (bars), 48.450 (beam), and 48.775 (floor).
On bars, junior Kayla Becker took first place with a career high 9.825. Senior Denashia Christian took first on floor with a score of 9.85.
Kentucky
The Wildcats (1-4, 0-4 SEC) come into this meet ranked No. 25 in the Road to Nationals standings. Kentucky faces off SEC rival Missouri tonight before heading to Ball State Sunday.
On the season, the Wildcats have averaged an all-around team score of 195.130, with their highest score at 195.525. Kentucky defeated Ball State 194.825-191.65 back on Jan. 8.
Lindewood
The Lions (7-5) are coming off a tri-meet with Missouri and Southeast Missouri, in which they took second with a score of 194.000.
Lindenwood competed against Ball State back on Jan. 22, ending in 192.150-192.050 victory for the Lions.
The Match-Ups
Kent State holds an all-time record of 56-16 against Ball State, with last year's regular season match-up ending in a score of 196.800- 195.500 in favor of the the Flashes.
This will be the seventh time Kent State has squared off with Kentucky. The two last met in 2010, with the Wildcats coming out on top, 196.050-195.950.
For the first time in program history, the Golden Flashes will compete against Lindenwood, who began competing in gymnastics during the 2012-13 school year.
