Women's Golf in 6th After Opening Round in Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, P.R. - No. 7 Kent State sits in 6th place after the opening round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic held on Sunday in Rio Grande.
The Golden Flashes shot 293, 5-over par in the first round to be ten strokes off the leaders, No. 8 Georgia and No. 26 Texas Tech, who are tied at 5-under. No. 4 Arkansas is in 3rd at 1-over while No. 5 Northwestern and No. 30 NC State are tied for 4th at 2-over.
Wad Phaewchimplee is also in 6th place individually, putting forth a round of 1-under par golf. Michaela Finn is close behind in a tie for 12th with an even round of 72.
Taylor Kim shot 2-over to be tied for 31st after the first day. Amira Alexander shot 4-over and Josée Doyon 6-over. Playing as an individual, Maddy Mullins had an opening round of 5-over par.
Kim tied for the best scoring in the field on par threes at 2-under while Phaewchimplee was 2nd on par fives, also at 2-under on the day. Alexander is tied for 3rd with 14 pars.
