Ladines Repeats Weekly MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ronnie Ladines has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week by the league office and Mid-American Conference Player of the Week by College Sports Madness for the second time in as many weeks to start the 2016 season.
Ladines continued her dominance in the circle for Kent State to improve to 6-0 on the season. The junior ace went the distance in all 3 appearances, including a shutout vs. North Carolina Central on Saturday evening, and had a 0.74 ERA with 19 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Ladines started the weekend by holding defending Horizon League champion Oakland to 1 run in a 10-1 victory in 5 innings. She threw a 2-hit shutout with a weekend-best 7 strikeouts in Saturday's win over North Carolina Central. Ladines finished the weekend with an impressive performance against previously-unbeaten USC Upstate, which was receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top and has played in 3 consecutive NCAA Regionals. She recorded six strikeouts without any walks while allowing just one run on five hits to a Spartans offense that entered the day with a .468 batting average and averaged nearly 11 runs over their first six games of the season.
