M.A.C.C. Hosts Wagon Wheel Challenge Game this Saturday

The M.A.C. Center will welcome the Wagon Wheel Challenge back to the hardwood on Saturday when Kent State (5-20, 2-13) takes on Akron (14-12, 8-7) at 2 p.m.

The Matchup
• Kent State is 48-14 all-time against Akron
• The Zips have won the last seven contests, including a 78-66 win at home earlier this season
• The Golden Flashes last won 77-76 at home in 2012
• Akron is averaging 71.3 points per game and 42.4 rebounds
• Anita Brown leads the MAC in scoring with an average of 21.5 per game
• She also leads in rebounds with 7.6
Wagon Wheel Challenge
• Kent State currently leads the annual Wagon Wheel Challenge by a score of 3.0 to 2.0
• The challenge awards a point for each team that wins the season's matchups between the two rival schools
• The Golden Flashes have won the challenge all three years of its existence
• The Zips have the advantage with a win at home, but on the men's side, the Flashes won at home in their first meeting
If the Tournament Started Today…
• If the Mid-American Conference Tournament were to start today, Ohio would be the No.1 seed with a 14-1 record
• Central Michigan would be the No. 2 at 12-3
• Ball State and Toledo would fill out the 3rd and 4th seeds as they are both 10-5
• Kent State would be the No. 12 seed and head to play No. 5 Eastern Michigan
• Akron would be No. 6, Western Michigan No. 7 and Buffalo would claim the No. 8
• The No. 9 seed would be Bowling Green, No. 10 Northern Illinois and No. 11 would be Miami
