Gymnastics Posts Bests All-Around Scores of the Season

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State University gymnastics team (3-2, 2-0 MAC) posted season highs in all four events during Sunday's tri-meet with No. 17 George Washington (8-0, 3-0 EAGL) and Northern Illinois (1-4, 0-3 MAC) inside the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
The Golden Flashes posted team scores of 48.725 (vault), 49.250 (bars), 49.00 (beam), and 49.075 (floor), bringing their team score to a season-high 196.050. George Washington remains unbeaten on the season finishing with a team score of 196.075. Northern Illinois finished with a team score 193.900, giving Kent State its second conference win of the season.
Sophomore Rachel Stypinski led the way for the Flashes, coming away with three victories on the day. On floor, Stypinski tied a career-high with a score 9.95 giving her the solo victory. She scored a 9.9 on bars and beam, tying for first place in each event.
Sophomore Ali Marrero tied with Stypinski on bars and set a new season high with a score of 9.9. Marrero and Brooke Timko both set season highs on balance beam with a score of 9.825, tying for fourth place. Freshman Kennedy Plude scored a 9.775 on beam, while Eastman scored a 9.65, bringing the Flashes' team score to a season high 49.000.
Junior Jordan Hardison finished second and set a season high on floor with a score of 9.9, followed by junior Skyelee Lamano in fourth place with a score of 9.825. Junior Samantha Gordon (9.8) and Eastman (9.6) brought the team score to 49.075.
Eastman had the best vault score for the Flashes, posting a season-high 9.8, good enough for a tie for fourth place. Behind Eastman was, Lamano (9.775), Dara Williams (9.75), Hardison (9.725), and Plude (9.675).
On the uneven bars, Lamano and Williams set season highs and tied for fifth with scores of 9.825. Timko posted a 9.8, giving the Flashes a total of 49.250.
The Golden Flashes return to action on February 14th in a quad meet with Ball State, Kentucky, and Lindenwood in Muncie, Ind.
