
Track and Field Gears Up for Northeast Ohio Quad this Weekend

Kent State's track and field teams are set to compete against Ashland, Akron and Youngstown State in the Northeast Ohio Quad this weekend at Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex in Akron, Ohio. The two-day competition is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 15 and conclude Saturday, April 16 with competition beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Last Time Out
Last weekend the Golden Flashes were spread out at two different events, partaking in the All-Ohio Championships in Athens, Ohio and the Hilltopper Relays in Bowling Green, Ky.
At the Hilltopper Relays, Redshirt junior Reggie Jagers III brought home victories in the hammer throw and the discus, leading to Jagers being named MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Senior William Barnes was named MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after he outpaced the competition in the 110m hurdles.
Freshman Jai'Lyn Mosley was victorious in the women's discus, posting a mark of 47.27m (155' 1"). In the long jump, senior Roseanne Erickson captured second place at 5.99m (19' 8").
The women's 4x400m relay team comprised of Tyler Williams, Jorian Ordway, Kayla Seymour, and Taylor Farquhar came away in second place with a time of 3:48.66. On the men's side, the 4x100m relay team of Barnes, Jonathan Grant, Brian Smith, and Wayne Gordon also took second place at 40.84.
At the All-Ohio Championships the men's and women's pole vault titles each went home with a member of the Golden Flashes. Senior Jesse Oxley captured the men's title at 4.98m (16' 4"), while junior Morgan Estes captured the women's title at 4.05m (13' 3.5").
Last Year's NEO Quad
In the 2015 Northeast Ohio Quad, Jorian Ordway was victorious in the 200m dash with a time of 24.52, while Hannah Fleck took first in the 1,500m run at 4:41.63.
In the women's pole vault, Estes was crowned champion with a mark of 3.98m (13' 0.75"), while Oxley took second in the men's pole vault at 5.25m (17' 2.75").
William Barnes captured first in the 100m dash (10.49) and (20.92), as well as helping the 4x100m relay team to a victory with a time of 40.67. The women's 4x400m relay team of Lynnese Beyan, Jorian Ordway, Lauren Burnett and Tyler Williams took first with a time of 3:46.67.

Kent State will stay in Ohio next weekend as they head to Ohio State to participate in the Jesse Owens Classic April 22-23.
