Figueroa Claims Hammer Throw Title on First Day of the Northeast Ohio Quad

AKRON, Ohio – The Kent State track and field teams wrapped up the first day of the Northeast Ohio Quad in Akron, Ohio, highlighted by Gabrielle Figueroa's victory in the hammer throw.
With a mark of 60.26m (197' 8"), Figueroa not only captured first place, but surpassed LeVania Henderson (191'-04.00", 2009) for third all-time in Kent State history.
In second place behind Figueroa was Jackie Leppelmeier with a mark 59.68m (195' 9"), followed by sister Rebecca in sixth at 53.75m (176' 4"), and Victoria Ross in tenth at 41.70m (136' 9").
On the men's side, Micheal King came in twelfth with a mark of 47.71m (156' 6").
Action from Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex resumes Saturday at 11 a.m. with the javelin. Live stats will be available throughout the duration of the meet Saturday, while live video will be available beginning at 2 p.m.
