Miklos' Two-Out Pinch Hit Seals 4-2 Victory for the Flashes

YPSILANTI, Mich. – A pinch-hit base hit with bases loaded in the 8^th by Alex Miklos proved the be the difference maker Saturday as Kent State (25-10, 8-3) topped Eastern Michigan (13-19, 5-3) 4-2.

In the deciding frame, Dom Iero was hit by a pitch, Tim DalPorto walked and Sam Hurt reached on an error to load the bases with two outs. Senior Miklos was called on and answered as he broke a 2-2 tie with a base knock to right field to give the Flashes the win.

For the second day in a row, Luke Burch led off the day with a double. He scored later on a single by Zarley Zalewski. In ten of the last 12 games, Burch has ignited the Kent State offense by reaching base as the leadoff batter in the Flashes' first at-bat of the game. Nine of those times was via a hit, including five doubles.

Kent State went up 2-0 in the 3^rd when Zalewski walked, made his way to third and eventually snuck home when the Eagles' catcher threw an errant throw trying to keep him on the bag.

Eastern Michigan's two runs came in the 2^nd on a pair of singles, a groundout and another base hit.

Andy Ravel matched his career high in strikeouts in the win with eight. He went 7.0 innings with eight hits, two runs and no walks. Zach Willeman got out of a big jam late and struck out three batters all looking, including to end the game. He earned his eighth save of the season in a 2.0 inning appearance. Chris Martin also threw, facing two batters.

Burch and Zalewski both had two hits on the day to lead the Flashes.

The final game of the series will be played on Sunday at 2 p.m.
