
Three Golden Flashes Secure Victories on Final Day of Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kent State's men's track and field team wrapped up the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic on Saturday, April 23, as Reggie Jagers III, Donovan Tolbert and Jesse Oxley came away with victories in their respected events.
Jagers set a personal-record en route to his hammer throw title, posting a mark of 63.27m (207' 7"), while Tolbert moved into fifth place in the Kent State triple jump record book with a winning jump of 15.48m (50' 9.5"). Oxley was the champion in the pole vault with a mark of 5.10m (16' 8.75")
Finishing seventh in the pole vault was Kyle Schlumbohm at a height of 4.65m (15' 3"). In ninth place behind Tolbert in the triple jump was Abdul-Nasser Seidu at 13.92m (45' 8"), as Jonathan Grant finished tied for 13th in the long jump with a mark of 6.88m (22' 7"). Grant also ran in the 100m dash, finishing 23rd with a time of 10.88.
Brian Smith was the top finisher in the 100m dash for the Golden Flashes, taking fourth place with a time of 10.46. In eighth behind Smith was Wayne Gordon at 10.63, followed by Brandon Harris in 17th (10.81), Joshua Peoples in 24th (10.89) and Isaiah Conkle in 27th (10.95). Gordon was the lone representative in the 200m dash for the Golden Flashes, taking seventh at 21.14.
In the 110m hurdles, Tyler Jones captured a sixth place finish with a time of 14.67, just ahead of Richard Dahome in seventh place at 14.70. Dahome also competed in the 400m hurdles, finishing 21st with a time of 56.78, followed by Kyle Storm in 23rd place at 58.31.
Matthew Tobin and Andrew O'Leary ran the 400m dash taking fifth and 13th with times of 48.33 and 49.30, respectively. In the 800m, Grant Onken came away in 26th place with a time of 1:56.69.
The Golden Flashes will split up next weekend as they are slated to compete in the Drake Relays, Hillsdale College Gina Relays, and the Ashland Open.
