
Leppelmeier and Oxley Advance to Eugene After Day One of NCAA Regional

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Kent State's Jackie Leppelmeier and Jesse Oxley have qualified for the 2016 NCAA Championship as they finished in the top-twelve in their respected events at the NCAA East Regional on Thursday, May 26.
Leppelmeier earns her second consecutive bid to the NCAA Outdoor Championships as she took third in the hammer throw with a mark of 61.24m (200' 11").
Oxley earns his first bid to Eugene, finishing in a tie for seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 5.30m (17' 4.5").
Finishing 18th in the hammer behind Leppelmeier was Gabrielle Figueroa with a heave of 57.86m (189' 10").
In the women's long jump, Roseanne Erickson collected a 24th place finish with a jump of 5.99m (19' 8"), while Taylor Farquhar took 28th in the 400m hurdles at 59.26.
Brian Smith and Wayne Gordon ran in the 100m dash prelims, taking 26th (10.55) and 45th (10.85), respectively.
Kent State will see 10 athletes compete on day two of the NCAA East Regional from Jacksonville, Fla., with Ada Nicholson-Burley, Jai'Lyn Mosley and Rebecca Leppelmeier set begin the day for the Golden Flashes in discus at 12:00pm.
