Kent State senior Roseanne Erickson (Alexandria, Minn.) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District V First Team on Thursday, May 26, as voted upon by CoSIDA members.
Erickson is one of 21 student-athletes (11 women and 10 men) from District V to garner the award. The Academic All-District award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined efforts athletically and academically.
Erickson, who was recognized earlier this year as a MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete will go on to the Academic All-American ballot with the winner being announced in June.
Erickson is an exercise science major with an astounding 3.968 grade point average. This season she captured her fifth MAC Championship in the long jump with a mark of 20' 5.75", leading to her First Team All-MAC selection for the indoor season. At the MAC Outdoor Championships, Erickson finished runner-up in the long at 6.09m (19' 11.75"), garnering a Second Team All-MAC selection.
Currently, Erickson is one of 21 Golden Flashes that will represent Kent State at the 2016 NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla. Erickson is vying for her second trip to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships as she previously reached in 2014, earning Second Team All-America honors in the long jump.
