EUGENE, Ore. - Kent State's Ian Holt (Stow, Ohio) and Chase Johnson (Barberton, Ohio) were recently named to the Division I PING Midwest All-Region Team. After completing their sophomore seasons, the duo was among 25 golfers on the Midwest team, making up half of the four Mid-American Conference golfers selected for the honor.
In all, the Golf Coaches Association of America selected 156 student-athletes across six region teams.
Holt and Johnson have collected numerous honors throughout the season. Both earned spots on the All-MAC First Team, the MAC's all-tournament team, the Academic All-MAC Team and claimed a MAC Golfer of the Week honor.
Johnson was named MAC Golfer of the Year after carrying the lowest stroke average in the conference. He finished in the top five at five tournaments this season and held a spot in the Top 100 of the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings.
Holt closed out the year with three consecutive top five finishes, including the NCAA Kohler Regional. He also placed second at the MAC Championships.
The pair helped Kent State win its seventh MAC Championship in eight years and led the Flashes to their 24th NCAA Regional appearance since 1989.
