The Mid-American Conference announced the 2016 Baseball Academic All-MAC list with Kent State leading the way with 11 honorees, the most students in program history.
Tim Faix, Reilly Hawkins, Eric Lauer, Mason Mamarella, Alex Miklos, Chris Martin, Dylan Rosa, Conner Simonetti, Zach Willeman, Zach Spangler and Zarley Zalewski were all recognized for having a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 and participating in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. Students in their first year at the school are not eligible.
The Golden Flashes also set a new precedent as the team posted its highest in-season term GPA this past spring. Lauer and Simonetti were both recognized as Academic All-District honorees while Lauer was named Second Team Academic All-America, the highest academic honor in program history.
The 11 students were part of a total of 71 athletes awarded by the conference. Toledo followed Kent State with ten honorees while Eastern Michigan had eight.
