
Hellstrom Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

CELVELAND, Ohio- Kent State soccer's senior forward Jenna Hellstrom has been named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.Â
Hellstrom, the reigning MAC Offensive Player of the Year, scored both goals for Kent State in Sunday's 2-1 win over Dayton. Her first goal came off a penalty kick in the ninth minute of the game, marking her second career made penalty kick moving her into a tie for sixth in Kent State history.Â
Hellstrom scored her second goal and eventual game-winner in the 68th minute off a pass from freshman Maddie LaVigna that found Hellstrom inside the 18-yard box. Hellstrom was able to chip the ball over the charging keeper for her 26th career goal. For her career, Hellstrom now has 12 game-winning goals, extending her own Kent State record.
Up next, Kent State will travel to Jacksonville Florida to take on the University of North Florida on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. and then face-off with Jacksonville University on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 2 p.m.Â
