
Men's Golf Heads to Scottsdale for Maui Jim Intercollegiate

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University men's golf team will continue their tough fall slate this weekend at the Maui Jim Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Mirabel Golf Club.
The three-day tournament begins on Friday, with one round taking place each day of the weekend. The Mirabel Golf Club will play to a par 71, 7,147 yards for the 54-hole event.
Joining Kent State in Scottsdale will be: UAB, Augusta, Baylor, No. 9 California, Chattanooga, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Grand Canyon, Hawai'i, Houston, Kansas, No. 8 LSU, Notre Dame, No. 10 South Carolina and No. 21 South Florida.
For the second straight tournament, the Golden Flashes will see a tough field with four Golf Stat Top-25 nationally ranked teams. The team is looking to follow up a strong season debut to parlay the fall into a top-25 ranking. At the Gopher Invitational, the Golden Flashes finished fourth overall with a 20-over par score of 872 (286-290-296). The team finished ahead of three of the field's nationally ranked squads. Four Kent State golfers finished in the team field's top-30, while Bjarki Petursson won the individual tournament. Petursson shot a 209 over three rounds and picked up MAC Golfer of the Week honors.
