Korinek Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

The Mid-American Conference announced its men's and women's Scholar Athletes of the Week on Wednesday with Kent State's Jordan Korinek recieving honors.
Korinek nearly averaged a double-double (16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds) and made 56.5-percent of her field goal attempts in Kent State's two conference games last week. Korinek posted season-best totals of 21 points and 13 rebounds in the Golden Flashes' first win over Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti since 2002, 86-67, and their largest MAC victory since 2011. She made 8 of 13 shots from the field and went 5-for-6 at the foul line to go with 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots. Korinek scored 12 points and pulled down a team-high 6 rebounds in just 21 minutes against Ball State.
The award is given to student-athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winner's are selected by the MAC school's faculty athletics representatives.
