KENT, Ohio - The Kent State University men's basketball team (9-9, 1-4 MAC) is set to host the Toledo Rockets (10-8, 3-2 MAC) Saturday in the M.A.C. Center at 7 p.m. on Spectrum Sports and ESPN3.

- The Kent State University men's basketball team will play its second straight game at the M.A.C. Center Saturday against Toledo. It's the first weekend home game of the new semester.
- Capping off a doubleheader, the evening is being dubbed "A Brand New Gameday" at Kent State. Several surprises are in store throughout the doubleheader.
- The Golden Flashes are looking to snap its current skid, with the most recent result coming in a home loss against Buffalo at home Tuesday, 82-69. The game was a back-and-forth battle in which a late run sealed the game for Buffalo.
- Although times have been tough, the Flashes still have 13 regular season games remaining, with five of the next six opponents being fresh faces to the young Kent State team.
- Following Saturday, the Flashes will look to even the score against Northern Illinois in Dekalb before returning home to face Central Michigan on Jan. 28 on CBS Sports Network. That game was recently moved to a noon tipoff.
- This will be the 129th game between in-state rivals Toledo and Kent State. The Flashes have won 41 games in the series, dating back to Dec. 15, 1934.
- Kent State has had Toledo's number in recent years, having won seven of the last 10 matchups. They have also won 15 of the last 21 games, dating back to the 2000-2001 season.
- Toledo enters the first matchup between these two teams at 3-2 in the MAC West and fresh off a home win over Bowling Green, 85-73. Before dropping a pair of conference road games, the Rockets had a five-game winning streak that included victories over Buffalo and Loyola-Chicago.
- Tod Kowalczyk is in his seventh year with the Rockets. His previous coaching stop was an eight-year stint at Wisconsin-Green Bay.
