Kent State defensive back Najee Murray (Steubenville, Ohio) was recently chosen to play in the 2017 Tropical Bowl. Held at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium, the second annual event is slated to kick off Sunday, Jan. 15, at 9 a.m.
Murray will play for the American Team (white jerseys) wearing No. 32. Todd Littlejohn will serve as head coach, while James Stanley coaches the defensive backs. Players will practice Friday and Saturday in Daytona Beach with a number of pro scouts on hand.
Live streaming video of the game can be seen on Audible Sports. Live audio can be heard here.
Murray, who earned his bachelor's degree in December, was a 2016 All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection. He finished ninth in the nation in passes defended. The hard-hitting senior had a hand in five turnovers with two interceptions, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown. He also totaled 47 tackles and 4.0 tackles for loss. In 2016, the Golden Flashes ranked No. 1 in the MAC in pass efficiency defense.
Kent State has placed at least one player in a postseason all-star game in seven consecutive seasons.
