CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior outside hitter Kelsey Bittinger has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
This is the second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season for Bittinger, who posted 31 kills (3.88 kills/set) and a .321 hitting percentage to lead Kent State to its first two conference wins of the season.
Bittinger started the week with 15 kills in a five-set victory against Ohio. Trailing 2-0 in the decisive fifth set, she got the Flashes on the board with a kill and added three more kills during an 8-0 run that put Kent State in control of the set. On Saturday, Bittinger recorded a season-best .469 hitting percentage with 16 kills and only one error on 32 attempts. After CMU fought off consecutive set point opportunities, she posted two kills in a row to give the Flashes the opening set, 27-25, and set the tone for a 3-0 sweep.
On the season, Bittinger is second in the conference in kills per set (3.80) and is second on the team in digs per set (2.98). She ranks fourth in program history in kills (1,331) and seventh in digs (1,197).
Last week, Bittinger was named one of thirty candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award®.

The Flashes will host Ball State for the annual 'Dig Pink' match on Friday, Oct. 13 and then battle Toledo on Saturday, Oct. 14. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
