Korinek Named MAC East Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Jordan Korinek has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Korinek averaged 20.0 points on nearly 60 percent shooting (19-for-32) over the Golden Flashes' three games last week. She started the week with 10 points in a win at Youngstown State, then had a game-high 19 points in just 20 minutes against CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll #4 Florida Gulf Coast in Friday's Akron Classic opener. In Kent State's final game on Saturday, Korinek scored a career-high 31 points while shooting 9-for-13 from the floor and 13-for-14 at the foul line in an 81-60 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
On the season, Korinek is second in the conference in scoring (22.3 ppg), fourth in field goal percentage (.574), fifth in free throw percentage (.914) and tied for eighth in blocked shots (1.0 bpg);
This is the third career MAC East Player of the Week honor for Korinek, who earned the award twice a season ago. She climbed two spots on Kent State's career scoring list last week and is currently 17th with 1,241 points.
Kent State (3-1) heads to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 23-25) for three games at the Play4Kay Showcase. The Flashes will play 14th-ranked Stanford in the opening round of the tournament at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday.
