Eiben and Reed Obtain Academic All-District Honors

KENT, Ohio – Kent State defenders Jaime Eiben and Amanda Reed have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Five Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday (Nov. 9).
Eiben is a senior Actuarial Mathematics major and carries a 3.98 GPA. She finished third on the team in minutes played (1849), registered two assists and started all 21 matches. The senior was named to the All-MAC Second Team and MAC All-Tournament and this season. Last year Eiben was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team and became the fourth player in program history to be named an Academic All-American.
Reed played the second-most minutes (1876) on the squad and started all 21 matches. The Cincinnati, Ohio native holds a 4.00 GPA as a sophomore Biology major.
Eiben and Reed were both part of a Kent State defense that led the Mid-American Conference in goals allowed (16) and goals against average (0.75) which ranks second in program history. The Flashes only surrendered six goals in MAC play and tied a school record with 11 shutouts.
The Golden Flashes won their third MAC Regular Season Championship in program history and won the MAC East Title for the second consecutive season.
To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, in his/her second year at the current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
