
Thomas Finishes Runner-Up at NCAA Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Danniel Thomas (Westmoreland, Jamaica) earned First Team All-America honors Friday evening, following her second-place finish in the shot put at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Texas A&M.
The redshirt senior unleashed a career-best mark of 18.40m (60' 4.25") to earn second-place and extend her own Jamaican national and Kent State records.
Thomas is now a three-time All-American in the indoor shot put and an eight-time All-American for her career. This is Thomas' second runner-up finish in a national championship meet. In 2014, Thomas finished second in the discus at the outdoor national championships.
Raven Saunders of Ole Miss captured the shot put championship with a new collegiate record of 19.56m (64' 2.25").
Kent State's run at the national championships continues tomorrow as Reggie Jagers III competes in the men's weight throw championship at 3:00 p.m.
