CLEVELAND - Kent State men's golfer Ian Holt has reclaimed his title as Mid-American Golfer of the Week, as announced Friday by the conference office. He was honored alongside Max Rispler of Bowling Green and Timothy Wiseman of Ball State.
In a weather-shortened tournament in Myrtle Beach, Ian Holt claimed second at the General Hackler Championship. He was one stroke short of an individual title. He registered back-to-back 68's and was one of only eight players under par. His final round included three birdies and an eagle. His team finished second overall and was in the running for the title before weather ended the tournament.
Holt is in the midst of a season that is separating him from the pack nationally. His performance has lifted him to 14th individually in the nation, making him one of the NCAA's top amateur golfers. He's the second highest ranked golfer outside of the "Power 5" institutions. His average score of 69.55 ranks third in the country.
