
Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Texas Relays and Miami Duals

A few weeks removed from the NCAA Indoor National Championships, Kent State's track and field programs return to action this week as they compete in the Texas Relays and the Miami Duals to get the 2017 outdoor season underway.
Traveling to Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas for the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays will be Kent State's pole vaulters, decathlon and heptathlon athletes. The meet will run from Wednesday, March 29 through Saturday, April 1. The Texas Relays is one of the largest track and field meets with this year's field featuring over 7,700 athletes from the high school, college and professional levels.
Competing for Kent State in the prestigious Texas Relays will be Morgan Estes (pole vault), Maria Horrigan (pole vault), Chelsea Laury (heptathlon), Christian Champen (pole vault), TJ Lawson (decathlon) and Kyle Schlumbohm (pole vault).
The Texas Relays will be broadcasted on the Longhorns Network and will be available online at espn3.com and on the WatchESPN app for fans with a subscription to the Longhorn Network from their cable provider.

Over 30 Golden Flashes will make the trip to George L. Rider Track in Oxford, Ohio for the Miami Duals this coming weekend. The meet will begin and end on Saturday with the first events beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the last events concluding around 5 p.m.
The group of Golden Flashes heading to Oxford includes 19 women- Jaimie Adams, Morgan Arena, Morgan Bing, Lauren Burnett, Mi'Angel Daniels, Taylor Farquhar, Gabrielle Figueroa, Olivia Gaus, Rebecca Leppelmeier, Morgan Manuel Jai'Lyn Mosley, Ada Nicholson-Burley, Bennisha Nunn, Jorian Ordway, Sarah Pack, Victoria Ross, Kayla Seymour, Madison Spreitzer and Tyler Williams, and 13 men- Isaiah Conkle, Richard Dahome, Trevor Detillion, Jason Drake, Josh Gogan, Mitchell Kubicki, DJ Ohlson, Bryce Ott, David Paliscak, Walter Petzel, Darius Ragland, Nick Schank and Abdul-Nasser Seidu.

2017 at a Glance
The Golden Flashes will see a change in scenery for the first three meets of the 2017 outdoor season before returning to familiar grounds for the final four regular season meets.
After this weekends' competitions in Austin and Oxford, Kent State will head to SEC territory to compete in the Crimson Tide Invitational hosted by the University of Alabama April 7-8.
Following their trip down south, the Golden Flashes will make their first of two trips Akron for the Northeast Ohio Quad April 14-15, before traveling to Ohio State for Jesse Owens Classic April 21-22.
The following week, Kent State heads west, to Des Moines, Iowa for the highly-contested Drake Relays April 26-29. The regular season comes to end the week as the Golden Flashes return to Akron for the Campbell-Wright Open May 5-6.
Postseason competition begins with the MAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Western Michigan May 11-13. This season's NCAA East Regional Championships will run May 25-27 in Lexington, Ky., followed by the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore.
