
Jagers and Thomas Sweep MAC Field Athlete of the Week Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State track and field's Reggie Jagers III and Danniel Thomas were named Mid-American Conference Men's and Women's Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.Â
Both throwers turned in impressive performances competing in multiple events this past weekend at the Crimson Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Thomas, a redshirt senior, recorded top-four nationally ranked marks in the shot put and the discus to win both events and set a Kent State shot put record. In the shot put, the eight-time All-American recorded a winning mark of 18.13m (59' 5.75), which ranks second in the nation, third in the world and first in the MAC. Thomas' mark of 58.03m (190' 5") ranks fourth in the nation and first in the MAC.Â
Jagers, a redshirt senior, collected runner-up finishes in both the discus and the hammer throw, establishing himself in the national rankings in the process. Jagers' top marks include a throw of 58.85m (193' 1") in the discus and a throw of 62.05m (203'7") in the hammer. A four-time All-American, Jagers' mark in the discus currently ranks eighth in the nation and second in the MAC. In the hammer, Jagers leads the MAC by nearly a foot.
The Golden Flashes continue their season this weekend as they head to nearby Akron for the Northeast Ohio Quad, April 14-15. Â
