
Riedel Joins Volleyball Staff

KENT, Ohioย โ Casey Riedelย has joined the Kent State women's volleyball staff as an assistant coach, head coachย Don Gromalaย announced. Riedel served as an assistant coach at Pierce College for nine years and will work primarily with the Golden Flashes' ball control and floor defense while overseeing the team's travel and coordinating recruiting efforts.
"We are very fortunate to have Casey on our staff," Gromala said.ย "As we went through the hiring process, our discussions kept going back to Casey and her professionalism. She will be an outstanding addition to the Golden Flashes family and give our program a fresh perspective from her many successful years of coaching on the West Coast.ย Her life has revolved around volleyball like the rest of our staff, and we are excited to have that passion for the sport mentoring our student-athletes."
Riedel began her coaching at Pierce in 2007 and worked primarily as the program's defensive coach, focusing on serve receive and defensive schemes. She helped guide the Brahmas to three consecutive state championships from 2011-13 and a state runner-up finish in 2015.
She also served as an administrator and coach with the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy since 2011. In her administrative role, Riedel was responsible for team and individual registrations, coordinating team travel and running tryouts. Additionally, she was the head coach for the 14-1 Adidas team.
Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Riedel was a four-year letterwinner at Cal Poly Pomona. She was a team captain and SAAC President during her senior year and served as the Publicity Director of SAAC for two years. Riedel earned a degree in behavioral science from Cal Poly Pomona in 2008.
