
McKee to Join Women's Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

Head Coach Todd Starkey has announced that Mike McKee, Kent State alumni and men's basketball staff member, will join the women's basketball program as an assistant coach.
"We are really excited about the addition of Mike McKee as an assistant coach for the women's basketball staff," said Starkey. "Mike has done a fantastic job in his role of Director of Basketball Operations for our men's program for the past six seasons. I've been able to observe his high character and work ethic first hand, and he is a perfect fit for our needs and program philosophy."
McKee has spent the last 12 seasons as a part of the men's basketball program in some capacity. Prior to serving as the Director of Basketball Operations, he was a graduate assistant from 2010-11. Before that, McKee was a member of the men's basketball team from 2005-2010.
"I am very excited to be joining Coach Starkey and the women's staff," said McKee. "I am extremely humbled at the opportunity he has given me to join their program. I can't wait to get started in my new role as assistant coach. Kent State is a community and University that I have grown to love and I am so happy that I get to continue my professional career as a Golden Flash."
The Plum Borough, Pa., native was a four-year letterwinner for the Flashes and was a member of three championship teams during his time as a student-athlete. He finished his playing career tied for ninth in school history in made three-pointers while also ranking eighth in Kent State history in games played and ninth in wins with 92.
McKee earned a bachelor's degree in education in 2009 and went on to receive a master's degree in sports and recreation management in 2011.
