Two Midweek Trips Coming Up for Baseball

The Golden Flashes (19-12) will remain on the road this week for two non-conference contests. Tuesday will feature a 5 p.m. game at Youngstown State (9-23). A 6 p.m. game at Pittsburgh (15-17) will follow on Wednesday.

THE MATCHUPS
Youngstown State
• Kent State is 66-21-1 all-time against Youngstown State
• The Flashes fell to the Penguins 11-6 at home earlier this season
• Kent State won 5-2 at home in 2016 then lost 11-10 on the road in 11 innings
• In 2015, the teams also split with each team taking its home game
• The Penguins are batting .252 and have a combined ERA of 7.22
• Youngstown State is coming off a three-game series with Milwaukee where it dropped the first two games but won the finale 6-5 in ten innings
Pittsburgh
• Kent State is 38-27 all-time against Pittsburgh
• The Flashes beat the Panthers in their 2017 home opener, 7-6
• Kent State dropped both of the meetings in 2016, 9-5 at home and 13-5 on the road
• Prior to that, the Golden Flashes took the meeting in 2015 and in 2014
• The Panthers are batting .227 as a team and have a combined ERA of 3.83

• Kent State will host Toledo in a three-game series this weekend
• Bowling Green will make the trip to Schoonover Stadium next Tuesday for a 6 p.m. non-conference matchup
• The Flashes will then host the Chippewas from Central Michigan in a series featuring the current top two teams in the MAC April 28-30
MAC STANDINGS
• Central Michigan is the current MAC overall leader at 8-1
• Kent State leads the East and is tied with Eastern Michigan at 7-2
• Toledo follows behind at 7-5
• Ball State and Northern Illinois makeup the rest of the top half at an even 6-6
• Western Michigan rounds out the West at 4-8 while Bowling Green is also currently 4-8 in conference games
• Buffalo and Ohio are both 3-6 while Miami suffers the conference's worst record of 2-7
