CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Ronnie Ladines was named Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. It is the seventh time she has received the award during her collegiate career.
Ladines threw a perfect game and a one-hitter in a pair of shutout starts inside the circle at Buffalo over the weekend. She retired 36 of 37 batters faced and recorded 19 strikeouts over 12 innings. Ladines fanned a career-high 15 batters and allowed just one hit in Friday's 1-0 series-opening win. She came back on Saturday and retired all 15 UB batters that stepped to the plate while striking out four.
The Arlington, Washington native also did damage at the plate by belting a pair of game-winning home runs and leading the offense with three home runs, eight RBIs and six runs scored. Her three-run bomb broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning of a 10-0 victory on Saturday. Ladines also hit the game-winning grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to give Kent State a 5-4 victory Tuesday at Youngstown State.
Kent State (24-24, 12-9 MAC) plays at Ohio State on Wednesday and then hosts Bowling Green to close out the regular season. The Golden Flashes look to extend their MAC-best streak to 14 straight years qualifying for the conference tournament
