
Track & Field Set to Begin NCAA East Prelims

KENT, Ohio - Kent State track and field will send 15 student-athletes to Lexington, Ky. this weekend to compete in the 2017 NCAA Division I East Preliminary meet May 25-27, at the Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
Kent State's 15 competitors include eight women and seven men, and a total of eight athletes that have competed in the NCAA East Prelims in previous years. Fourteen of the Golden Flashes' 15 competitors will be participating in field events, while Taylor Farquhar will be running in the women's 400m hurdles. The NCAA East Prelims will be broadcasted on ESPN3 each day and can also be followed with live results.
The Golden Flashes in action this weekend will look to finish in the top-12 of their respective events in order to qualify for the 2017 NCAA Division I Track & Field Championships, to be held June 7-10, in Eugene Ore. TJ Lawson has already clinched a birth into the National Championships, as he holds the nation's 13th best decathlon score of the year (7,640 points).
