Men’s Track & Field Receives Eight Academic All-MAC Selections

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced its list of 2017 Men's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC recipients Wednesday morning, a list that included eight member of Golden Flashes' men's program.
The eight Kent State Academic All-MAC selections were among the 54 student-athletes from around the conference to garner the award this season. Buffalo and Miami registered 12 selections each to lead the MAC.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
With a 3.568 grade point average, Kent State senior Kyle Schlumbohm takes home the award for the third time in his career. Abdul-Nasser Seidu is now a two-time recipient with a GPA of 3.911.
The six first time recipients for Kent State include Brandon Avers, Trevor Detillion, Samory Fraga, Brandon Harris, TJ Lawson and Walter Petzel.
