
Thomas Named Bowerman Semifinalist

KENT, Ohio – Kent State University NCAA National Champion Danniel Thomas has been named a semifinalist for The Bowerman award.
The Bowerman is awarded annually to the NCAA's top male and field track and field athletes. Three finalists will be named on June 21.
Thomas crashes the list following her outstanding performance at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship. She became Kent State's first female individual national champion in the shot put with a mark of 19.15m (62-10). Her performance was a record at nationals and the second best mark in NCAA history.
Thomas finished the championship with a fourth-place showing in the discus throw. She picked up multiple All-America honors throughout the season, including a second place finish in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship.
