KENT, Ohio – The Kent State University athletic department has announced several staffing updates as the 2017-18 academic year approaches, with organizational changes set in the student services and advancement areas.
STUDENT SERVICES
The department has reorganized its student services area, formerly led by Senior Associate Athletic Director Greg Glaus. After 10 years working at Kent State, Glaus accepted the role of senior associate athletic director at Texas Tech. In line with the mission of winning championships and graduating student-athletes, the department has restructured the student services area based on three pillars: academics, compliance and student-athlete health/well-being.
"I have great confidence in the current leadership in these areas and look forward to supporting their growth and success," said director of athletics Joel Nielsen. "Student-Athlete Services and Well-Being have been and will continue to be the foundation of the department."
Trent Stratton has been named associate athletic director for sports medicine, sports performance and student-athlete well-being. He will continue to oversee the sports medicine staff as well as the Athletic Training and Education Center. Stratton will also oversee sports performance, student-athlete well-being initiatives (nutrition, mental health, etc.) and student-athlete development. He has been named the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and will serve as the sport administrator for baseball.
Angie Hull has been promoted to associate athletic director of academic services and will remain the primary football academic counselor. She will oversee the academic services office and the equipment staff. Hull will provide leadership on the implementation of "The Game Plan," the department's strategic vision.
Stephanie Danesis has been named assistant athletic director for compliance. She will serve as Kent State's senior compliance officer and will oversee all NCAA compliance operations and reporting. The remaining student services area changes are: Amy Densevich as assistant athletic director for academic services; Michelle Rura as assistant athletic director for sports medicine; Katie Schilling as associate director for student-athlete development; and John Hardesty as assistant director for compliance and eligibility coordinator. Densevich will also serve as the sport administrator for field hockey.
ADVANCEMENT
On the advancement side, Maggie McKendry has been promoted to assistant athletic director for athletic advancement. She will continue in her role of soliciting major gifts for capital projects and scholarship endowments. Brock Cline has been named assistant athletic director for leadership annual gifts and corporate relations. He will focus on annual giving, major gift fundraising and cultivating relationships with corporations in Northeast Ohio.
In addition to those two changes, Greg Moon has been hired as assistant director of the Golden Flashes Club. He comes to Kent State after working for a year in the Wolfpack Club at N.C. State University, under the leadership of Bobby Purcell. He previously spent time as a graduate assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University in the marketing and ticket offices.
FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS
In another move, Kent State hired David Rush as assistant athletic director for facilities and operations. Rush now oversees the facility and operations for all Kent State athletics events. Rush previously worked at Emory University and started his career in the Mid-American Conference at Bowling Green.
