
Edwin To Begin Pro Career in Finland

KENT, Ohio – Kent State University men's basketball alum Deon Edwin is set to begin his professional basketball career in Finland for KTP-Basket.
Edwin joins a club that has won the Finnish Championship six times and has been runner up seven times, including a strong run in 2013. The team competes in Kotka, Finland, a city located on the Gulf of Finland, 134 kilometers west of Helsinki.
A native of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, Edwin will continue his basketball career after his best year at Kent State in 2016-17. The senior started consistently for the Golden Flashes and led the team to the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championship. He was honored for his hard work by the league as part of the All-MAC Defensive Team.
Offensively, Edwin averaged a career-best 13.1 points per game on 46 percent shooting from the floor. He also logged 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He drew five fouls per 40 minutes and shot 72 percent from the line. Edwin's finest game came at Akron, when he scored 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting with seven rebounds.
