Holt and Johnson Named All-American Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. – Kent State University men's golfers Ian Holt and Chase Johnson have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
The 2017 MAC Golfer of the Year Ian Holt was honored for holding a 3.325 GPA as a business management major. Holt finished the season ranked 68th in the nation and holds one tournament win at the Cleveland State Invitational. His scoring average of 71.54 is the third best mark of all-time at Kent State. He's also recorded three rounds of 65 this season, a first in program history.
Last year's MAC Golfer of the Year, Chase Johnson, was honored for his 3.446 GPA in the communications studies program. A 2017 All-MAC First Teamer, Johnson ended ranked 221st in the nation. He's made repeated top-30 finishes throughout the season, including a sixth place finish at the MAC Championship. He averaged a career-best 73.00 scoring average.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
