
Play Suspended with Holt in Lead at Gopher Invite

INDEPENDENCE, Minn. – The No. 13 Kent State University men's golf team is in the mix at the Gopher Invitational, with Ian Holt in the individual lead through two rounds.
The Flashes are currently at 15-over par, in a tie for sixth place. The Flashes began the day shooting a collective 293, and ended the day partially through the second round at 6-over par. The rest of round two and final round will take place Monday.
All-American Ian Holt returned with a bang, currently sitting in first place at 4-under par He shot a 70 in round one, and is at 3-under par in round two. He is currently tied with Sahith Theegala of Pepperdine for the overall lead.
Gisli Sveinbergsson is in second on the team at 4-over par. He is currently in a tie for 26th place. The defending MAC Champion shot a 75 in round one and moved up the standings in round two with a score of even par. Chase Johnson is currently in a tie for 52nd place at 8-over par He made his season debut by shooting a 74 in round one, and is currently 5-over par in round two.
One stroke back are Bjarki Petursson and freshman Will Kurtz, who are in a tie for 60th place. Petursson registered a 74 in round one and 6-over par in round two. Kurtz, making his collegiate debut, carded a 76 in round one and is improving at 4-over par in round two.
At the Gopher Individual at the Pioneer Creek Golf Course, Chris Doody leads the way at 2-under par 142, tying for fourth overall through two rounds. He started with a 74 and finished the day with a 68. He is currently four strokes off the lead. Debuting freshman Josh Gilkison is currently tied for 14th at 6-over par, with scores of 78 and 72. Spencer Dobbs is 11-over par and in a tie for 23rd, posting scores of 80 and 75 over 36 holes.
