For the fourth time in nine career starts at quarterback, Kent State's Nick Holley (Toledo, Ohio) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week Monday. Holley led the Golden Flashes to a 38-31 victory over Howard this past Saturday at Dix Stadium.
On Kent State's first offensive play from scrimmage, Holley raced 38 yards over the left side for the game's opening touchdown. He followed that with first-half touchdown passes to Justin Rankin and Raekwon James, both from 25 yards out.
With his team trailing in the fourth quarter, Holley led an 11-play, 58-yard scoring drive. His two-point conversion run gave the Flashes the lead for good at 31-24. The fifth-year senior finished with 119 yards rushing and 105 yards passing.
Holley now has six 100-yard rushing performances and 11 rushing touchdowns in his nine career starts at quarterback.
Kent State returns to action Saturday, visiting Marshall at 6:30 p.m.
