
Kent State travels to Washington D.C. to Compete in Quad-Meet

KENT, Ohio – Kent State will head to Washington, D.C. to compete in a quad-meet with George Washington, Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and William & Mary on Sunday, February 4 at 1 p.m. in the Charles E. Smith Center.
This will be the Golden Flashes (2-1, 1-1 MAC) second road meet of the regular season.
The Flashes' all-around average score is 194.858, ranking them 32nd in the nation and second in the MAC. On the uneven bars (48.825), Kent State ranks 24th overall and third in the MAC. Floor (49.050) is the best event for the Golden Flashes, where they rank 17th in the nation and first in the MAC.
Senior Rachel Stypinski is ranked first in the MAC on floor with an average score of 9.892, while freshman Abby Fletcher ranks third in the MAC (9.842).
Senior Brooke Timko is first in the MAC on bars with an average of 9.850.
LAST TIME OUT
Kent State fell to Ball State, 195.600-193.600, on Sunday, January 28 in Muncie, Indiana.
Seniors Ali Marrero and Brooke Timko took first on individual events. Marrero scored a 9.825 on balance beam, while Timko tied for first on uneven bars with a 9.825. Junior Sarah Lippowitsch finished right behind Marrero on beam with a personal-best score of 9.800 to tie for second.
The best event of the day for the Golden Flashes was floor exercise. Kent State's floor rotation posted its third straight 49.050. Senior Rachel Stypinski led the team on floor with a 9.875 to tie for second place. Freshman Abby Fletcher tied for fifth with a score of 9.850 and sophomore Sarah McCarty earned her highest collegiate score of 9.825 to tie for seventh.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials (7-2) enter with an average of 195.213, ranking No. 25 nationally after posting a 196.175 to defeat New Hampshire on Sunday.
Vault is the Colonial's best event, ranking 11th nationally with an average score of 49.006. Camille Drouin-Allaire ranks first in the EAGL on vault with a 9.875 average and a 9.925 high. Senior Elizabeth Pfeiler is ranked sixth on vault (9.794 average, 9.875 high).
Drouin-Allaire is also the top all-around performer ranking fifth in the all-around for the conference (39.031 average), while Jillian Winstanley follows behind (38.994) ranking sixth in the all-around.
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
The Tribe (0-2) seeks their first victory of the season and is ranked No. 57 nationally. In a tri-meet with N.C. State and Ball State, William & Mary finished third with a team score of 193.300.
William & Mary ranks second in the ECAC conference with an average score of 193.513. The team's best event is vault (48.463) where they rank first.
Katie Waldman is the conference all-around leader with an average score of 38.650. Waldman scored a collegiate high score of 38.925 at the tri-meet.
Aaliyah Kerr ranks second on floor exercise with a 9.787 average. Evan Pakshong is ranked sixth on uneven bars (9.712).
SCOUTING WISCONSIN-OSHKOSH
The Titans (1-3) rank No. 81 nationally (45.531) and seventh in the WIAC. UW-Oshkosh started the season with a win against Hamline University (183.525-183.475), but lost the meets following.
Amanda McBrayer is a top performer for the Titans with an all-around average score of 36.456.
SERIES HISTORY
Kent State is 11-5 all-time vs. George Washington. The Golden Flashes seek to defeat the Colonials after four consecutive losses since 2016.
The Golden Flashes are 3-0 all-time vs. William & Mary. In their last meeting, the Flashes beat the Tribe 194.450-192.400.
Kent State defeated Wisconsin-Oshkosh, 194.775-181.775, in the only previous meeting in 2011.
