Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference unveiled its 2018 football schedule Thursday with dates for all eight of Kent State's conference games, beginning with a Sept. 29 trip to Ball State.Â
MAC East rivalries will make up a stretch of five consecutive games, beginning Oct. 6, against Ohio on Homecoming weekend. Look for Homecoming weekend details to follow soon.Â
The annual battle for the Wagon Wheel will be Oct. 20, when the Flashes host Akron. Kent State will also have a Saturday East Division showdown at Miami on Oct. 13.
All start times are yet to be determined. However, Golden Flashes fans can expect evening kickoffs in three of the last four games in front of a national TV audience.
On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Kent State heads to Bowling Green for a night matchup on either ESPN2 or ESPNU. The following Tuesday (Nov. 6), the Golden Flashes travel to Buffalo on ESPNU.
Kent State will return home for its final two games of the season, beginning with a Thursday night tilt against defending MAC champion Toledo, Nov. 15, on CBS Sports Network. A Black Friday at Dix Stadium will close out the year against Eastern Michigan on Nov. 23. The Flashes' first game with the Eagles since 2012 will be aired on either ESPNU, CBS Sports Network or ESPN3.
Earlier this year, Kent State announced its four non-conference games, beginning with Illinois on Sept. 1. Â The first month of the FlashFAST era includes trips to Penn State and Ole Miss.
The 2018 home opener against Howard will be a part of Parents and Families Day at Kent State on Saturday, Sept. 8.Â
An updated release of the MAC 2018 football schedule will be released in June with kick times and a television schedule for the first three weeks of the regular season and midweek games during late October and November. All other game kick times and television will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game.
The date for the 22nd Marathon MAC Football Championship game from Ford Field in Detroit is yet to be determined. Â
The Golden Flashes will hold their first of 15 spring semester practices on Tuesday, March 6. Kent State's 2018 spring game will be Saturday, April 14, inside Dix Stadium at 11:00 a.m.Â
