Biggin Earns Eleventh MAC Coach of the Year Award

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – Kent State head coach Brice Biggin was named 2018 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year following the conclusion of the MAC Gymnastics Championships on Saturday afternoon. Biggin has now received the award a conference-record 11 times during his 27-year tenure leading the Golden Flashes' program.
Biggin led Kent State to a No. 32 national ranking with a 195.855 Regional Qualifying Score (RQS), as the Flashes were the only team in the MAC that has clinched a NCAA Regional spot entering the meet. Additionally, Kent State owned the top average (195.318) and season-high (196.625) in the conference.
Kent State All-American Rachel Stypinski was named MAC Gymnast of the Year for the third consecutive year, joining former Golden Flash Marie Case as the only three-time winners of the award. Biggin has mentored eight Gymnast of the Year honorees and 46 MAC individual event champions.
The Flashes will compete at NCAA Regionals for the 10 time in the past 11 seasons on Saturday, April 7. The NCAA Selection Show will air on NCAA.com at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 26.
