KENT, Ohio – Kent State (14-10, 2-1 MAC) fell in the series finale to the Western Michigan Broncos (14-13, 1-2 MAC), 12. The Broncos banged out 17 hits in their run-rule victory, the most KSU has allowed this season. Kent State was limited to six hits and stranded 10 runners on base.

Western Michigan wasted no time and scored first in the second frame and went on to score three runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Kent State scored its lone tally in the bottom of the fourth inning on an infield single by Vanessa Scoarste that drove in pinch runner Sydney Anderson.

The Broncos tacked on one in the fifth and four in the sixth for the 12-1 run rule victory.

Emily Dobbin was 1-for-3 with a single and extended her hitting streak to nine games. Holly Speers, who is second in the nation in on base percentage (.698), walked three times and did not record an official at bat.

Maria Cegledy continued her hot hitting with a base hit to right center. She finished the biggest weekend of her career 5-for-10 at the plate with two RBIs.

Kent State took the series from Western Michigan winning both games in yesterday's doubleheader.

The Golden Flashes will hit the road to the nation's capital for a trio of mid-week contests. KSU will take on Mount St. Mary's and UMBC on Tuesday, March 27 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively and conclude the road swing at Georgetown on Wednesday with a single game at 2 p.m.
