
Craig’s List: Stevens, Jr. Soars to No. 2 Spot in KSU Record Book

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — All-American Craig Stevens, Jr. recorded the second-best triple jump mark in program history with a personal-best 53'-1.5" as Kent State concluded competition at the Tennessee Relays on Saturday
Stevens, Jr. placed first among collegiate competitors in the event and finished second overall behind former Mid-American Conference champion Donald Scott, whose top jump of 56'-9.5" ranks second in the world this year. The Pottsville, Pa. native now has a No. 4 national ranking and is the fourth Golden Flash to post a top-15 mark this weekend.
Trevor Detillion nearly matched his personal-best with a mark of 178'-6" for a third-place finish in the men's discus. On the women's side, Jai'Lyn Mosley finished seventh with a top throw of 160'-3".
A trio of Flashes earned ninth-place finishes, as Christian Champen cleared 16'-4.75" in the men's pole vault invitational, Brad Jones cleared 6'-5.5" in the men's high jump and Sam Tollerud cleared 13'-3.5" in the women's pole vault invitational. Ally Thompson also cleared 13'-3.5" and set a new outdoor personal-best for the second straight week. Thompson's mark moves her into fifth in the Kent State record book.
On the track, the Flashes placed fifth in a pair of relays. The men's 4x100 relay team of Brandon Harris, Riak Reese, Korie Davis II and Jonathan Grant clocked a 40.6, while the women's sprint medley relay team of Melina Owens, Kayla Seymour, Aiyanna Crawford and Rachel Banks finished in 4:01.54.
Kent State will be back in action at the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus on Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21.
