
Flashes Sit in Second Place at Suspended Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas-The Kent State men's golf team stands in second place when play was suspended in the second round on Saturday at the Aggie Invitational at Texas A&M's Traditions Club.
The Flashes posted an opening 6-over 304 to trail Alabama by 15 after the tournament's morning round. With the help of a successful second round play, Kent State moved into second place carding a 287 1-under par. Kent State stands at 15-over par at the par-72, 7,088-yard layout and is eight shots behind leader Alabama when play was halted due to darkness.
Senior Ian Holt (Stow, Ohio) carded rounds of 74 and 68 for second place in the individual race at 2-under 144.
Junior Bjarki Petursson (Borgarnes, Iceland) and freshman Josh Gilkison (Springboro, Ohio) are in a tie for 15th place. Petursson fired a 3-over 75 in the opening round, followed by carding a 1-over 73 in the second. Gilkison finished the morning with a 5-over 77 and shot a 1-under 71 for his second round.
Senior Chase Johnson (Barberton, Ohio) carded a 78 in his opening round and bettered his second round shooting a 75 and is tied for 37th.
Junior Gisli Sveinbergsson's (Hafnarfjordur, Iceland) total of 157 included scores of 81 and 76, tying him for 53rd.
Second round play will resume tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., followed by the final round. Live scoring of the event is available at golfstat.com
