Cegledy Earns Academic All-District™ First Team Honors

KENT, Ohio - Kent State sophomore outfielder Maria Cegledy was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team for District V, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Cegledy exploded in her sophomore season and was named to the All-MAC Second Team for the first time in her career. The Pataskala, Ohio native is hitting .327 on the season with five doubles, three triples with one homer and 18 RBIs.
She registered a .390 batting average and .464 on-base percentage in MAC games to rank 10th and 12th, respectively, in the conference. Cegledy's 12 RBIs in league play were tied for the third-most on the team. She also continued her stellar defensive play in center field and registered a perfect fielding percentage in MAC games.
Off the field, the sophomore carries a perfect 4.00 grade point average and is majoring in Exercise Science. Cegledy will advance to the All-America ballot, with first and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June.
The Golden Flashes continue postseason play in the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 10 at 3:30 p.m.
