Women’s Track and Field Finishes Fifth at MAC Outdoor Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Rachel Banks and Nicole Yeargin earned All-MAC honors with runner-up finishes on Saturday's final day of competition as the Kent State women's track and field team finished fifth at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Golden Flashes totaled 67 points and were only two points behind fourth-place Central Michigan.
Nicole Yeargin scored in three events on Saturday, giving her a team-high 10.5 points for the meet. Individually, Yeargin placed second in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 23.55. She also ran the second leg for the 4x100 relay team that finished third and the 4x400 relay team that finished fifth.
Rachel Banks claimed second in the 800-meter run with a personal-best of 2:11.69, which puts her 10th in the Kent State record book.
The 4x100 relay team of Gana Lopez, Yeargin, Cayla Carey and Kayla Seymour raced into 10th in the program's record book with a time of 46.19 to finish third.
The Flashes placed fifth in the 4x400 relay as Irene Skinner, Yeargin, Carey and Tyler Williams ran a 3:43.05.
Williams also scored in both the 400-meter dash and 200-meter dash . Williams placed sixth in the 400m (55.89) and eighth in the 200m (25.20).
Jai'Lyn Mosley took fifth in the discus with a top throw of 154'-11".
Talia Falco finished eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 38'-4".
Kent State continues postseason competition when qualifying Golden Flashes travel to compete at the NCAA East Preliminary in Tampa, Florida on May 24-26.
