Defensive back Nate Holley (Toledo, Ohio) recently became the third former Kent State player to sign with an NFL team in the span of a month. Holley inked a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, joining his twin brother Nick Holley, who signed with the Rams just two weeks earlier.
A two-time All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection, Nate Holley recently participated in the Rams' rookie minicamp, before being offered a contract. His 426 career tackles were the most by a Kent State player since 1993.
As a junior, Holley led the MAC with 141 tackles and claimed his second Academic All-MAC Team honor. The next year, he was selected to the Bednarik Award Watch List, honoring the nation's top defensive player. Â
Along with the Holley twins, defensive lineman Jon Cunningham (Bedford, Ohio) also signed an NFL contract (Atlanta Falcons) this offseason, while former long snapper Kain Anzovino (Fort Erie, Ontario) was selected in the CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts.Â
Undrafted free agents from Kent State have had their fair share of success in the NFL. This past season, Roosevelt Nix joined the likes of James Harrison, Josh Cribbs and Antonio Gates as former Flashes who have earned spots in the Pro Bowl in the last decade.
