
Women’s Golf Releases 2018-19 Schedule

KENT, Ohio- The Kent State women's golf team has released its schedule for the 2018-19 season.
"We're very excited about the 2018-19 schedule," said head coach Greg Robertson. " Our goal is find the best tournaments across the country throughout the year that will ultimately have us best prepared and peaking by the time we get to the post-season. We will play in 10 different states, plus Puerto Rico, on some outstanding golf courses, and we'll also get the opportunity to compete against many of the top teams from coast to coast."
The Golden Flashes, coming off a T-5th place finish in the 2018 NCAA National Championship, will return seven golfers from last season's lineup. This year, the Flashes will compete in 10 different states, with four new regular-season tournaments, along with heading to Puerto Rico for the second-straight year. Kent State will defend multiple titles from the previous season and look to return to the national stage.
The schedule begins Sept. 10 when the Flashes head to Albuquerque, N.M. for the Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational. Kent State will compete in the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate (Sept. 17-18) for the third-straight season in Knoxville, Tenn. Last season the Flashes finished in a tie for second-place at the tournament.
From Oct. 8-9, Kent State will travel to Medinah, Ill. for the Illini Women's Invitational. The Fall season ends with the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, hosted by Texas Oct. 19-21.
The spring season and march towards the NCAA National Championship will begin with the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla. Feb. 3-5. From there, the Flashes will compete in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R. where Pimnipa Panthong will defend her individual championship, Feb. 10-12. Wrapping up the month of February, Kent State will compete in the University of Houston Invitational on Feb. 25-26 at The Woodlands, Texas.
In March, Panthong will again defend a tournament title at the BYU at Entrada Classic, March 11-12 in St. George, Utah. From March 23-25, Kent State will compete in the Evans Derby Experience in Auburn, Ala., hosted by Auburn.
The regular season ends with the Lady Buckeye Invitational April 13-14 in Columbus, Ohio where the team placed second, and Panthong was named Co-Champion last season. From April 19-21, Kent State will look to win its 21st straight MAC Championship in Noblesville, Ind. Panthong will return to the conference championship after a win in 2018.
NCAA Regional play is scheduled for May 6-8, with the NCAA National Championship slated for Fayetteville, Ark. May 17-22. The Flashes aim to build on their 2018 run of match play on the Golf Channel.
