Case, Skiffington, Wozniak Earn Academic All-MAC Honors
Trio recognized for success in competition and classroom
KENT, Ohio – Three Kent State gymnasts earned Academic All-MAC honors this season, as announced today by the Mid-American Conference office. Senior Brianna Skiffington, junior Lauren Wozniak and sophomore Marie Case were voted to the 2012 Academic All-MAC team by conference Faculty Athletic Representatives.
Skiffington was one of Kent State's top scorers on the balance beam this year and was tied for 10th in the MAC with a 9.490 average score in 2012. Skiffington, a exercise physiology major with a 3.85 grade-point average, earned Kent State University academic honors for seven consecutive semesters, including President's List commendation twice.
Wozniak, an early childhood education major with a 3.93 GPA, was among the team's top performers in the vault in 2012. Wozniak posted two of Kent State's three 9.9s this season on the vault and ranked second in the MAC with a 9.813 RQS. She also ranked 10th in the MAC in the floor exercise and 17th in the balance beam.
Case was named the 2012 MAC Gymnast of the Year after a strong season as an all-around performer for the Golden Flashes. A four-time MAC Gymnast of the Week, Case had the top averages in the MAC this season on the beam (9.753), floor (9.861) and all-around (38.947). A two-time Dean's List honoree, Case has a 3.6 GPA in exercise physiology.
Juniors Rachel Guida and Lindsay Runyan garnered honorable mention nods.
